Bette Jean Sherrill

IOWA CITY ? Bette Jane Sherrill, 93, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at her home.

Mrs. Sherrill was born Oct. 28, 1922, in Washington, the daughter of Attorney Ted and Eva Mae Michels.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1940; and she graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, in violin and piano, and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She taught music in the schools in North Carolina, where she met her husband, Pogue Sherrill. After retirement she and her husband moved into the family home in Tipton. After her husband?s death, she moved to Iowa City, where she enjoyed showing cocker spaniel dogs, which were her companions, and winning many first-place ribbons.

Surviving are two sisters, Catherine ?Cathy? Joan Johnson, and Ruth Marie Cigledy; Moira Cigledy Depasquale; and two nephews.
