Betty Jean Antrim Brewer, 79, of New London, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals. She was born March 5, 1943, in Parnell, Missouri to Delno and Helen Jones Antrim. On January 29, 1964, she married Curtis Reed Brewer in Maryville, Missouri. He died February 5, 1982.

Betty was a graduate of Parnell High School, then served four years working on the supply chain in the United States Navy. She worked as a machine operator at Heatilator for more than 30 years. She was of the Methodist faith. When she was younger she enjoyed quilting, and more recently, Facebook and playing games online.

Survivors include her children, David Santos and Brenda (Joseph) Kempker, both of New London; and four grandchildren, Kevin (Cyndthia) Santos, Alex Kempker, Taylor (Brad) Bavery and Reed Kempker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson, David; sisters, Bonnie and Mabel; and one brother, Irvie.

According to her wishes, her body has been cremated and inurnment will be held at a later date at Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established for New London VFW Post 7641 and cards may be sent to Brenda Kempker, 504 S. Elm Street, New London, IA 52645.
