Betty Jean Kessler, 96, of Fairfield, died Sunday May 29, 2022, at Prestige Care Center of Fairfield. She was born April 28, 1926, to Harold V. and Hildred Brown Emry Bray. She attended School in Richland and Ottumwa and graduated from Richland High School. Betty Jean married Charles Kessler and they later divorced. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years for Kessler Sales & Service then Kessler Distribution Co. She had also worked at Parsons College and as a waitress. Betty Jean attended the Methodist Church and later the Assembly of God Church. She had lived in Fairfield and Burlington for several years each.

Betty Jean is survived by her children, Charles G. “Chuck” of Eldon and Richard A. ”Dick” and his wife Rose of Richland; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Bobbie K. Johnson; and sister, Kathleen Horras.

Funeral services was held at Thursday June 2, 2022, at the Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with Pastor Richard Kessler officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.
