Betty Kempf

KALONA ? Betty Kempf, 92, of Williamsburg, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, where visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The body will be cremated following the service, and burial will be at a later date.

Mrs. Kempf was born Feb. 9, 1923, the daughter of Harry and Ruby Jacob. She married Russ Kempf on Aug. 22, 1942.

She graduated from Central High School in 1941. She was known as a devoted wife and mother and was an avid and skilled gardener. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of Embroidery Club, Kountry Quilt Club, and Garden Club.

Surviving are three daughters, June Kempf, and Pat Kempf, both of West Des Moines, and Linda Randall and husband Dale of Findlay, Ohio; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jacob, Dolores Kempf, Martha Justice, and Olivia Abshire; and one brother-in-law, Les Kempf.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years; her parents; and two brothers, Bob, and Larry.
