Betty L. Podaril, 90, of Columbus Junction, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Colonial Manor. Graveside services will be held on at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Columbus City Cemetery. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Washington County in memory of Betty. The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Columbus Junction is caring for the family. Betty Yoder was born on August 27, 1932, at a farm home near Muscatine, to Fred and Phoebe (Johnson) Yoder. She attended country school near Muscatine and was a 1951 graduate of Muscatine High School. After graduation, she worked at a teacher aid in a country school and as a cook at the Skynook Restaurant in Fruitland. On December 15, 1955 she was united in marriage to James “Jake” L. Podaril in Haskins. The couple had two children, Cindy and Jerry. Betty was a farm wife and enjoyed gardening, canning, tending to her flowers and cooking. She was an avid sewer, doing alterations for many people. She also enjoyed crochet and made many blankets for others. In retirement, Betty became an avid painter and painted many pictures for her family and friends.

She will be dearly missed by her son, Jerry (Pam) Podaril of Ainsworth; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James, on September 29, 1976; and her daughter, Cindy, on February 6, 2003.
