Betty L. Thorn

      Betty L. Thorn, 75, of rural Wever, formerly of Douds, died at 9:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

      A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, east of Douds.

      Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 p.m.

      Memorials to the University of Iowa Holden Cancer Center or Zion Lutheran Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 560 Augusta Circle, North Liberty 52317.

      Mrs. Thorn was born Aug. 22, 1933, in the Oak Grove neighborhood east of Douds, the daughter of Joshua and Zona Hanshaw Reneker. She married Edgar L. Thorn Sept. 2, 1954, in Carthage, Ill. He died March 2, 1988.
