Beulah E. Welcher, 91, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Lockridge, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.
Beulah was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Afton, Iowa, the ninth of 16 children, the daughter of Bert and Ava Mae (Mills) Dady. She was united in marriage to Alvin Edward Welcher on March 29, 1947, at the Methodist Church parsonage in Creston. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2000. Beulah worked at Emerson's and later Motorola of Mount Pleasant. She was the bookkeeper for her husband's plumbing business. She was the director of the Lockridge Senior Center for a number of years, retiring at the age of 83. In her spare time, she loved to go fishing and going to the casino. Education was very important to her and she impressed that on her grandchildren. Beulah was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her children, Dolores (Tony) Beaber of Mount Pleasant and Dixie (Harold) Engle of Fairfield; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Beth Welcher of Mount Pleasant; her brothers, Orval (Eleanor) Dady of Corydon, Iowa, and Milo Dady of Osage Beach, Mo.; her sisters, LaVon Pfadenhauer of West Burlington, Evelyn Bierce of Murray, Iowa, and Sylvia Seguancia of Rialto, Calif.; along with her sister-in-law, Gaylene Welcher of Texas.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Dale Welcher; one great-grandchild; along with 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant with Pastor Steve English officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Lockridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Memorials may be directed to the Lockridge Cemetery Association or to the Lockridge Veterans Association in her memory.
