      Beverly Jean Tolander, 75, of Kalona, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona, following declining health the past five years.

      The funeral service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 16 in National Cemetery in Keokuk, with the Rev. Dr. Edward R. Peterson officiating. Visitation will begin today at noon at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial has been established to Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

      Mrs. Tolander was born June 25, 1929, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Earnest and Lavelle Turpin Roberts. She married Harold Tolander in New London, Aug. 19, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1979. She attended school in Yarmouth. She was a resident of Washington since 1969. She was a homemaker and loved sewing and reading.

      Survivors include a son, Jimmy Tolander of Washington; three daughters, Nicky and her husband Gary Oldt of Mt. Pleasant, and Sandy and her husband Richard Snyder and Pamela and her husband Sam Berg, all of Washington; and eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
