Beverly Louise Sowden-Sammons, of Burlington, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Bev was born October 29, 1940 to Gladys Fladt and Robert Sowden, who also had two other daughters - Donna Molnar and Barbara Hodson, both of whom are deceased.
In 1958 she married William Poland, Sr. They had three children; William Poland Jr., Bonnie Poland-Mizer and Robert Poland. They later divorced.
In 1966 she married Gary Sammons and had a stepdaughter, Cindy Sammons-Jackson.
Bev was an active member of West Avenue Baptist Church since 1966. As for hobbies, she loved to travel just about anywhere. Bev's employment started at the age of 16 at the Mercy Hospital, then Midwest Biscuit, the Burlington School systems, Kleins, and she later retired from Conifer/Andrews Corporation in 2003.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; children, William (Jennie) Poland, Jr., Bonnie (Dale) Mizer, Robert "Bob" Poland, and Cindy (Dennis Jackson; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private service was held with Reverend Dzawo officiating. Bev was laid to rest at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
Memorials are suggested to West Avenue Baptist Church in Burlington.
