Billie Dean Kindred

      WAYLAND - Billie Dean Kindred, 58, of Riverside, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, in the VA Medical Center in Iowa City following a lengthy battle with cancer.

      Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Washington with the Rev. Tim Davison officiating. Burial will be in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Monday in the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Church, State and Industry Foundation, which helps provide scholarships for military chaplain candidates.

      Mr. Kindred was born April 1, 1950 in Washington, the son of Billie Oliver and Bea (Gingerich) Kindred. He married Terry Sue Custer. They later divorced. He later married Cyndi Swiggum on Oct. 9, 1982 in Fargo, N.D.
