Billy Udell Kellogg
Billy Udell Kellogg, 77, of rural Morning Sun, died Thursday morning, October 12, 2000, at his home.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Morning Sun United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harlan Winter officiating. Burial will follow at Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery with graveside military rites. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun with a Masonic service at 6 p.m. and family visitation following the Masonic service. A general memorial has been established.
Mr. Kellogg was born June 26, 1923, near Pleasant Grove, the son of Earl H. and Nellie Fye Kellogg. He married Elva Wiggins Oct. 15, 1947 at Sigourney. He graduated from Winfield High School and was a former member of the Morning Sun school board. He was a former 4-H leader, a 50 year member of Good Faith Masonic Lodge #235 of Winfield; a 55-year member of the Winfield American Legion #643, a member of the 40 and 8 #661, and a member of Morning Sun United Methodist Church where he formerly served on the church board. He served in the Army during World War II and was a farmer in the Winfield/Morning Sun community his entire life.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Kellogg of Morning Sun; three daughters, Sharon Burk of Mt Pleasant and Deanna Connolly and Dana Royer of Morning Sun; a sister, Dorothy Jean Helphrey of Winfield; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, E. Dale Kellogg.
