Blanche Esther Barr

Blanche Esther Barr, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Mt. Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, with Abbott Michael-John and the Rev. Gary Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Pleasant Manor Care Center's activity fund and St. Michael's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Madeline and her husband Jim Swailes and Alma and her husband Kent Bennett, both of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Bouge of Yuma, Ariz.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Joyce Byers Deck, a brother, Robert Messer, and a sister, Wilma Thornton.
