Bobbie Miller

Bobbie "Ike" Miller, 78, of Ames, died Sunday, Feb. 10, at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

His body will be cremated. An informal gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at American Legion Post 37 in Ames.

Stevens Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born Sept. 7, 1929 in Richland, Mo., the son of Roscoe and Flossie Bryant Miller.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he worked for Layne Western, drilling wells until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Madelyn Miller of Ames; three daughters, Jeanne Miller of Mt. Pleasant, Judy Amundson and her husband Paul of Story City, and Sheila Miller of Story City; two sons, Byrl Hinderaker of Denver, Colo. and Tracy Miller and his wife Linda of Ames; three brothers, Roger Miller and his wife Frances, Trenton Miller and his wife Barb and Allen Miller and his wife Carol; one sister, Mabel Myers; one sister-in-law, Jan Miller; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

His parents, brothers Royal and Victor, sisters Betty and Mary Sue, daughter Jody, one granddaughter and one grandson preceded him in death.
