BONNIE (TWEEDY) BALLARD
Mount Pleasant
Bonnie Sue (Tweedy) Ballard, 76, passed away Sept. 1, 2020, due to natural causes.
She was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, on Dec. 29, 1943, to the late Jim and Alta Tweedy. She grew up on a farm in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, Class
of 1962. She also attended the University of Iowa and Southern Oregon College.
She was married to Kelly H. Ballard for 14 years.
She relocated many times in her career in Oregon, Washington and California, for non-traditional jobs at that time such as writing bail bonds and store detective/shopper. She moved to Las Vegas in 1993. Her latest employment before retirement was on the Yucca Mountain Project. In her retirement years, she fostered 19 medically fragile infants over a period of eight years. She was the most proud of that experience and described it as the "best time of my life." She was a member of Canyon Ridge Christian Church, volunteered in many areas there and served on the board for Habitat for Humanity.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Roger, Bob and Don Tweedy; and is survived by her brother, Jim Tweedy (Irene) of Hamilton, Ill.; a sister, Betty Holst (Rod) of Eugene, Ore.; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Tweedy (Bob) of Dunedin, Fla., and Lucy Tweedy (Don) of Knoxville, Tenn. She also is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a service in the chapel at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas on saturday Sept 26, 2020 at 10 a.m. But there is no present plan to have an Iowa service due to the pandemic.
