Brad Leroy Buchholz, age 52, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Jenny Edmondson Hospital in Council Bluffs following a sudden illness.
Celebration of life services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Private family interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Brad was born February 8, 1971, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Leroy “Lee” and Lois (Bremer) Buchholz. Brad graduated from Washington High School in 1989 and later graduated from Wartburg College with degrees in Psychology and Sociology.
Brad lived in Washington and Waterloo before moving to Council Bluffs, Iowa, thirteen years ago. He was a Supervisor as Glenwood Resource Group in Glenwood, Iowa. Brad was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington where he was a member. In his younger days, Brad participated in football, track, swimming and baseball and was a male cheerleader while in high school. Following high school he played football for the Wartburg Knights and enjoyed playing Rec League Basketball at the Washington Community Y. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Los Angeles Chargers fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenna Aldridge of Council Bluffs, Iowa; father, Lee Buchholz of Washington, Iowa; sister, Renee Buchholz of Washington, Iowa, and significant other, Calvin Jones of Pleasant Plain, Iowa; brother, Erik Buchholz and wife Christy of Washington, Iowa; sister, Heidi Kaufman and husband Andy of Mission, Texas; three nieces: Kaitlin and Jessie Buchholz; and Kailey Kaufman; one nephew, Colton Kaufman; two aunts: Marie Steege and husband Richard of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Ruth Dietz and husband Bill of Ellis, Kansas; as well as many cousins.
Brad was preceded in death by his mom in 2021; uncle Richard Buchholz and wife Lila; aunt Pauline Haden and husband Tom; and cousin David Buchholz.
