Brenda Jean Alderson-Davey, 66, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, formerly of New London, Iowa, died at 12:25 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
Born January 10, 1953 in Hannibal, Missouri, she was the daughter of Harold Eugene "Squirt" and Ruth Elizabeth (Lessenger) Cole. She married Michael Thomas Alderson on March 11, 1972 in New London. He died October 6, 1997. She married Craig William Davey November 20, 2003 in Crawfordsville.
Brenda was a 1971 graduate of New London High School. She retired from Motorola Co. in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and worked part-time at the Crawfordsville Veterinary Clinic.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She volunteered as an Emergency Medical Responder and was involved in many community benefits. She enjoyed making candy and helping at the Crawfordsville United Methodist Church. Brenda knew no stranger. "Nana's" passion was her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Craig W. Davey of Crawfordsville, Iowa; two daughters, Kristen (Mike) Needham of Melbourne, Iowa and Tara (Matt) Willman of Davenport, Iowa; two step-children, Emily Davey of Crawfordsville, Iowa and Kristopher Davey of Hiawatha, Iowa; four grandchildren, Cole, Emma, Kylee, and Tyler; one brother, Tom (Jeanne) Cole of Jamison, Pennsylvania; nephew, Nic and two nieces, Allie and Bailee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Michael; and brother, Jimmy Cole.
The funeral service for Mrs. Alderson-Davey will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2019 at Elliott Chapel. Pastor Rod Cooper will officiate. Interment will be in Burge Cemetery, New London, Iowa. Visitation will be 3-5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9th at Elliott Chapel where the family will receive friends.
Memorials have been established for the Great River Hospice House and Crawfordsville Emergency Responders Fund.
