Brian George 'Dawg' Mattocks
Brian George "Dawg" Mattocks, 28, of Wellman, and formerly of Wayland, died on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident north of Wellman.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Hartman officiating. Burial will be in the Center Cemetery near Wayland. Visitation will be held at noon on Friday, Nov. 29, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Brian's name.
Mr. Mattocks was born on July 5, 1974, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Bill and Nancy Brooks Mattocks. He was a 1992 graduate of WACO High School. After high school, he worked in farming, and graduated from a computer aided drafting program in Des Moines. While in Des Moines, he worked at Sutherland Lumber. After completing the program, he used his skill at the Wayland Carpenter Shop. For the past 5 years he worked at Precision Structures in Wellman, drafting and most recently in sales and customer service. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved golf and was a member of the Wellman Golf and Country Club. He was a member of a pool league and liked to water ski.
Survivors include his mother, Nancy Mattocks of Wayland and her special friend, Walter Campbell; his father, Bill Mattocks of Iowa City, and his fiancee, Tonya Whidbee; one brother Bob and his wife Heather Mattocks of Wayland; and two sisters, Dema Mattocks of Iowa City and Hanna Mattocks of Ainsworth.
Brian was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Dorothea Brooks; one uncle, Nolan Mattocks; and one cousin, Jeff Brooks.
