Brian Eric Hole, 61, of Kalona, Iowa, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after being seriously ill for the past three weeks. A gathering to celebrate Brian's life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at the Ainsworth Opera House in Ainsworth, Iowa. Interment will take place at the West Chester Cemetery at a later date. A general memorial has been established. Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Brian was born Nov. 6, 1959, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Donald and Cecilia K. (Wood) Hole. He graduated from Highland High School in 1978. Brian was united in marriage to Barbara Sayre on Dec. 3, 1984, in Washington, Iowa.
He was currently employed at ACH Foam/Atlas in Washington, Iowa. Brian previously worked at Amana Refrigeration, the Kalona Cheese Factory, the Riverside Casino and Whitesell Manufacturing in Washington. He was proud to have served in the 134th Medical Unit of the National Guard for over 20 years.
Brian was a self taught guitar player and vocalist. He enjoyed "jamming" with his beautiful daughter, Brianna, and his very special uncle, Vernie Hole from West Chester. In 2017, Brian fulfilled a lifelong dream of playing and recording a song on the stage of the Grand Old Opry in Nashville, Tenn. He also taught himself to knit and crochet and made many blankets to share with family and friends.
He is survived by daughter, Brianna Hole and grandson, Clayton Hall of Kalona, Iowa; brother, Tracey Hole of Ottumwa, Iowa; brother, Doug Hole of Oskaloosa, Iowa; sister, Marlo Hubbell and husband James of Oskaloosa, Iowa; brother, William Hefel IV and wife Saori of Virginia; stepfather, James Wood of Washington, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews and his in-laws who he considered family.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara, in 2017; and one sister, Cindy Reinier.
