Byron 'Gene' Hafner

      WAPELLO - Byron "Gene" Hafner, 76, of Wapello, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 in the Nursing and Rehab Center in Wapello.

      Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 in the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction with the Rev. Cathy Whitlatch officiating. Following the service, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Great River Hospice or the Wapello Fire and Rescue.

      Mr. Hafner was born Aug. 16, 1930 in Cranston, the son of Byron Hunter and Mollie (Crow) Hafner. He married Mary Margaret Utter on Sept. 9, 1950 in Davenport.
