C. Lorene Gilchrist, 87, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020, at the United Presbyterian Home.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. General calling hours will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery. A general memorial has been established. Lorene was born Jan. 6, 1933, in Wayland, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Anna (Wagler) Fritz. She attended school in Washington and was united in marriage to William A. Gilchrist on Aug. 11, 1954, in Washington.

Lorene worked as a CNA at Sunny Haven, Washington Care Center and M.L. McCreedy Home for years. She loved her job and her residents. Lorene enjoyed bingo with her late husband, traveling on gambling trips with her girlfriends, and collecting bells. She was very loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Debbie) Gilchrist of Ainsworth, Iowa; Cindy (Pat) Maxwell of Sheridan, Ind., Jean (Philip) Jessup of Anderson, Ind., Nancy Gilchrist of Washington, Iowa, and Mary Gilchrist-Brock (Larry) of Washington, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Tobi, Nichole, Karissa, Amanda, Todd, Nathan, John, Steven, Jade and Will; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three siblings, Betty Kuntz of Texas, Lidvil Hart of Washington, Iowa, and Marlene Fritz of Washington, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and five siblings, Lucille, Darlene, Dale, Clifford and Gladys.
