Caleb Strait

Caleb Dean Strait received his angel wings on April 20, 2019 after an extended battle with Budd-Chiari syndrome a very rare liver disease. Caleb was born on October 4, 2008 in Keosauqua, IA. He was currently a student at Highland Elementary School in Riverside, IA. Prior to that he was a student in Van Buren School District. Caleb was a sportsman at heart. He was a diehard Iowa Hawkeyes, New England Patriots, and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. Julian Edelman was his favorite player. Caleb's favorite hobbies included Pokémon hunting, gaming, geocaching, camping and playing football and baseball with his brothers. Caleb also loved animals. He deeply loved his cat Mittens and every other animal that he encountered. Caleb is survived by his mother/step father Tiffany (Mark) Bressler, father Philip Strait, brothers Cody Strait, Wilson Bressler, J.T. Bressler, sister Mary Barta, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Visitation and Service will be held Sunday April 28 at Highland High School Gymnasium from 1 to 4 p.m. with the service starting at 3 p.m. In lieu of burial, Caleb requested his body be donated to science in hopes that scientists could learn from his disease and save a life in the future. The University of Nebraska Medical School has graciously accepted his generous offer.
