Calvin Stewart Oritz-Hartshorn November 11, 1987 - October 19, 2003

      Calvin Stewart Ortiz-Hartshorn, 15, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

      The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Faith Christian Outreach Church, with the Rev. Monte Knudsen officiating. The body has been cremated. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Children's Cancer Center at the University of Iowa, Make a Wish Foundation and the Faith Christian Outreach Church Building Fund.

      Survivors include his parents; five brothers, Ricardo Ortiz, Timothy Ortiz and Joseph Ortiz, all of Mt. Pleasant; Joshua and his wife Chandler Ortiz of Hawaii and T.J. Stewart of Lomax, Ill.; two sister, Jessica Ortiz of Mt. Pleasant and Beth Stewart of Morning Sun; his biological mother, Gail Stewart of Mt. Pleasant; and his biological father, Terry Stewart of Burlington.
