Carl William Luers

      KEOTA - Carl William Luers, 91, of North English, formerly of Keota, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, in the English Valley Care Center in North English following a brief illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Sigourney with the Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, in the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Cemetery, Hospice of Keokuk County or the mission of the donor's choice.

      Mr. Luers was born Sept. 21, 1916, in rural Keota, the son of Herman and Matilda (Kracht) Luers. He married Gwendolyn Grove on Oct. 10, 1940, in the Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Sigourney.
