Carol Ann Smith Gray August 12, 1939 - April 10, 2004

Carol Ann Smith Gray, 64, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died on Saturday, April 10, 2004, at Thunderbird Hospital in Arizona.

      The Requiem Holy Eucharist will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 30 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Wayne Kamm officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following committal services at the cemetery. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant is in charge of local arrangements.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Kimberly and her husband Conrad Kruse of Fort Madison and Kelly and her husband Rick Barton and Kristine and her husband Rick Jeffrey, all of Mt. Pleasant; a stepson, Stephen and his wife Sue Gray of Mt. Pleasant; two stepdaughters, Barbara and her husband Brian Leslie of Sedona, Ariz., and Tamara and her husband Robert Becker of Glendale; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her stepfather, Ross Shafer of Mt. Pleasant; and a stepbrother, Vernon Shafer of Tucson, Ariz.

      In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three infant sisters.
