Carol Dorothy Swiggum

Carol Dorothy Swiggum, 73, of Mission, Texas, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a brief illness while visiting her daughter in Riverside.

    A celebration of life will be at 5 p.m. today at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington with the Rev. Al Kruse officiating. The body has been cremated, and there will be services later this week in Fargo, N.D. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital. Beatty Funeral Home in Washington is assisting with local arrangements.

    Mrs. Swiggum was born July 15, 1937, in Moorhead, Minn., the daughter of Henry and Carrie (Poppinga) Baker. She married James ?Jim? I. Swiggum on Jan. 16, 1959, at the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo, N.D.
