Carol Mason (nee Kreutner), 79, of Holland, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021, after a brief illness.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack; her children, Kevin (Agnieszka) and Andrea (Matthew); grandchildren, Lilia, Nicholas, Alexis and Ian; and her siblings, Don (Janet) Kreutner and Susan (Dirk) Mullenger.

Carol was raised in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and Valparaiso University. She was a Latin teacher out of college and then transitioned to a full-time mother. As her children grew, she started working as a medical transcriptionist at Muscatine Hospital, Muscatine, Iowa.

She enjoyed reading, good food and politics. She had an encyclopedic knowledge of history and etymology and loved correct grammar. She was an unstoppably devoted mother and grandmother who made every Christmas and birthday special.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Toys for Tots.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland, Mich., with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. www.langelandsterenberg.com.
