DONNELLSON ? Carol Ann March Laymon Rose, 73, of Donnellson, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with the Rev. Paul Kinney officiating. Burial will be in the Crawfordsville Cemetery in Crawfordsville. Visitation with the family meeting friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service, Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mobile Nursing Hospice. The Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Rose was born July 17, 1942, at Downing, Missouri, the daughter of Hobert Elza and Virla Mae (Ransford) Wood March. She married Clifford Clinton Laymon on June 18, 1961, at Mount Sterling. He preceded her in death. She married Marshal W. Rose on Oct. 10, 1998, at Wayland, Missouri.
She attended the Clay Point one-room school. Her family then moved to northeast Clark County, where she attended the Johhny-Up School. Her first year of high school she attended Harmony High School. After that, she attended Revere High School and graduated in 1960 with an unsigned diploma. School had been very hard for her. In 2000 she asked Revere High if she could come back and finish up the required courses to graduate. She was allowed to do this, and she graduated with the Class of 2001 and gave the commencement address at the graduation. She continued her education by completing one semester of Southeastern Community College until her health failed. She worked at the Sheaffer Pen Co., Sheller Globe, The Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, and as a nurses aide at the Columbia Regional Health Center in Columbia, Missouri. In 1993 she moved back to Kahoka, Missouri, to care for her parents.
Surviving are her husband Marshal of Donnellson; one son, Dennis Paul Laymon and wife Audrey of Columbia, Missouri; one stepson, Kevin Rose and Beth Bennett of Crawfordsville; one stepdaughter, Joi Lee Dellamuth and husband Dave of Williamsburg; four brothers, Buddy Wood and wife Louise of Kahoka, Missouri, Billy Gene Wood and wife Ruth Ann of Kearney, Missouri, Jackie March and wife Diana of Luray, Missouri, and Jerry March of Quincy, Illinois; one granddaughter, whom she raised from age 10; one grandson; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford, on Aug. 3, 1992; and one daughter, Rebecca Lynn Laymon Morgan, in 2000.
