Carole Ann Loeffler, age 87, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Brighton, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at Halcyon House in Washington surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2023, at the Brighton Community Church with Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Calling hours will begin 11:00 a.m. Sunday, November 26th at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for Hawkeye Cans for Cancer or Hospice of Washington County. Online condolences may be sent for Carole Ann’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
Carole Ann was born April 9, 1936, in Dutch Creek Township of Washington County, the daughter of David L. and H. Lenore (Willis) Banks. She attended school in Crawfordsville graduating from Crawfordsville High School in 1954, where she was an outstanding basketball player. Carole Ann was united in marriage to Carol D. Loeffler on December 23, 1954, in Brighton, Iowa.
Carole Ann lived in the Brighton community until moving to Washington in 1996. Carole Ann was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the family farm operation. She worked at the Brighton Locker for a number of years. She was a longtime member of the Brighton Community Church. Carole Ann enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, camping, gardening and crocheting.
She is survived by six children: Diana (Steve) Schneider of Washington, Iowa; Cindy (Larry) Guy of Washington, Iowa; Roger (Sharon) Loeffler of Des Moines, Iowa; Greg (Diane) Loeffler of Butte, Montana; Denise (Todd) Zwer of Brighton, Iowa; and Teresa (Adam) Mangold of Washington, Iowa. Carole is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one brother, Larry (Jan) Banks of Nebo, North Carolina.
Carole Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1997, two grandsons, Nathan Guy and Travis Loeffler; and three brothers, LeRoy, Jerry and Glenn Banks.
