Caroll L. Smith, 79, of Ottumwa, died Friday, March 18, 2022, in Ottumwa. She was born Feb. 9, 1943, in Washington, to Jesse and Helen Courtney Williams and grew up in Brighton and attended Brighton Schools. She married Larry G. Smith on July 28, 1961. He died Oct. 5, 1995.

Caroll is survived by her children: three sons, Steve and Angie Smith of Hedrick, Dustan and Markie Smith and Warren and Shelly Smith, both of Ottumwa; and four daughters, Linda Ferrell of Richland, Julie and Johnny Mertz of Hayesville, Beverly Smith and Sid of Bristol, Tenn., and Melissa Tachett of Abingdon, Va.; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Johnny Williams of Washington, Gloria Goodwin of Mount Pleasant, Janice Bocek of Arizona, Michelle Wulf (Larry) of Keota and Kim Savage of Agency.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Dwayne; and siblings, Donald, Rick, Orville, Bernard Williams and Cynthia Woodward.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Trinity Friends Church in Richland with Pastor Jerry Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in Richland Friends Cemetery. general memorial has been established and may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 503 W. Moffet St., Richland, IA 52585. Gould Funeral Home in Richland is in charge of arrangements.
