Hedrick
Carolyn Sue Skinner, age 66, of Hedrick, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at her home in Hedrick. She was born on June 16, 1957, at her parent’s home in Pekin, Iowa, the daughter of Woodrow and Wanda (Van Orsdall) Conger. She attended Pekin High School and graduated with the Class of 1976. She then furthered her education at Indian Hills Community College and earned her C.N.A Certificate. She was united to Ricky “Beep” Skinner in Keokuk County, Iowa. To this union a child was born, Maggie. Carolyn and Beep divorced years later.
Carolyn did factory work and worked at restaurants for a while until she became a C.N.A, a job she dearly loved. After years of nursing work, she retired and took a job at B.P. in Hedrick. She enjoyed being outdoors, rock hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and being with family and friends. She was an excellent cook. Carolyn was an extremely thoughtful person and had a knack for putting everyone around her in a good mood.
Those left to honor her memory: daughter, Maggie Skinner; her grandchildren, Nolan, Eli, Emma, and Violet; a special lifelong friend, Marty Bennett and his children, Matthew, Bruce and Adam; her siblings, Jimmy (Mary Lou) Conger, Bobby Conger, Dale (Kathy) Conger, Larry (Janet) Conger, Juanita Jones, Joyce Kopsieker and Arlene Shy; her in-laws, Colleen Conger, Ruth Conger, Dee Conger and Bob Ellis. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Dean Conger, Delbert Conger, Paul Conger, Ralph Conger, Raymond Conger and his wife Marilyn, Ed Conger and his wife Linda, Judy Ellis and two sisters in infancy, Linda and Darlene, and her in-laws, Eugene Jones, John Kopsieker and Bill Shy.
Her remains have been cremated.
A time of visitation and a light dinner will be held Prairie View Church near Ollie on April 20 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life ceremony at 5:00 p.m. at Lake Darling State Park at the shelter by the main boat ramp. You are invited to red or your favorite classic rock T-shirt in her honor.
Memorials can be made to Maggie Skinner to be used for a memorial in Carolyn’s name.
