CARROLEE E. SCHULZE
Gladstone, Ill.
Carrolee E. Schulze, age 98, of Gladstone, Illinois; passed away at 5:00 a.m. at the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, Illinois, on Thursday, December 31, 2020. Carrolee was born on March 19, 1922, in Macomb, Illinois, and is the daughter of Charles and Mertie Whitmore Shaner.
She was raised in the Rozetta and Biggsville area in Henderson County and attended the Biggsville High School. She married John H. Schulze on September 20, 1940, in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in his death on February 9, 1989. Carrolee was first employed at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa. After that she worked at Sylvania in Burlington, Iowa, and lastly was employed at Antennea Craft in West Burlington until she retired. She was a member of the Gladstone United Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling and watching the "Food" Channel on television, She also enjoyed doing crafts and working with ceramics.
She is survived by her son, Jerry A. Schulze and Kathy of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and her daughter-in-law, Karen Schulze of Gladstone, Illinois. There are five grandchildren, Daren ( Rene) Schulze, Jay Schulze, Denise (Rick) Bigger, Andrea (Jeff) Moeller and Aaron (Meghan) Schulze. There are five great-grandchildren, Amber Bigger, Jonathan Schulze, Abby Schulze, Cooper Huckabone and Emma Huckabone.
She is preceded in her death by her parents; husband, John; son, Robert; seven brothers; and four sisters.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the holiday, no service and/or visitation is currently being planned by her family. Cremation is being accorded and her ashes will be interred next to her husband in Biggsville Cemetery at a later date.
