Carroll F. Berg, 94, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Unity Point Health – Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
Carroll Frank Berg was born on December 22, 1929, in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Frank H. and Ruth M (Peterson) Berg. He was baptized on January 12, 1930, at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, Iowa by Rev J.T. Meyer. He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lockridge, Iowa on May 31, 1942. Carroll received his early education in one room country schools in rural Jefferson County, Iowa and High School in Burlington where he lived during 1944-1945, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1947.
On June 3, 1950, Carroll was united in marriage to Mable Goehring at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church Libertyville, Iowa. He worked for Harrison Service station in Fairfield. In April of 1951 they moved to Burlington, Iowa where he worked for the American News Company and Good Year Tire Company. In May of 1961 they moved to Waverly, Iowa where he worked for Dorfman Tire Company until his retirement in December of 1991. During his retirement he worked part time at the Waverly City Recycling Center where he enjoyed visiting with patrons.
He was a member of Friends and Faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly and had been a member of the Kiwanis Club for several years. In January 2020, he moved to Windhaven at Western Homes Community, where he enjoyed getting to know the other residents.
Carroll is survived by his two sons, Randy (Mariann) Berg of Cedar Falls; and Ron (Wendy) Berg of Iowa City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Ryan (Diana) Berg along with their children, Connor and Averie of Belvidere, Illinois: Sarah (Sam Tia) Berg along with their two sons, Micah and Isaac of Berkeley, California: and Amy Berg, also of Berkeley, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mable in 2019; and daughter, Diane.
Funeral Service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2020, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School in Waverly with Pastor Patricia Shaw officiating. The service will be livestreamed through St. Paul’s YouTube using the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOB5klsJNgY. Burial will be held in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 am until service time on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to either St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School or the Assurance Fund at the Western Homes and online condolences can be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
