Charles E. Smith

Charles E. Smith, 83, of Montrose, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, May 20, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, May 23, at Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with family present. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dylan Does officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Memphis, Mo.

He was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Scotland County, Mo., the son of Joseph and Marie Spencer Smith. On Dec. 29, 1945, he married Flossie L. Jeffery in Memphis.
