Charles “Ervin” Berkshire, 89, and a long time resident of New London, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the Summit of Bettendorf. Ervin was born July 15, 1934 in Winfield, IA. He was the son of Charles and Helen Berkshire. Ervin graduated from Winfield High School in 1952 and joined the Navy later that summer. After the Navy Ervin graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College. He married Ruth Ann Kannegiesser October 6, 1957. They celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Ervin had a long and successful career as a purchasing executive. A majority of that career was spent at the Champion Spark Plug Company in Burlington Iowa. He enjoyed playing golf and was a life-long Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Those left to cherish Ervin’s memory include his children, Angela Bert and Michael (Usman) Berkshire; grandchildren, Blair (Rob) Miller, Stefanie (Joe) Miller, Drew (Shanna) Miller; great-grandchildren, Gracelyn and Mason Miller; brother, Jack Berkshire; sister, Brenda (Alan) Helphrey; 4 nephews, 2 nieces and their families.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Ruth Ann.

A joint graveside service will be held for Ervin and Ruth Ann at Trinity Cemetery in Mount Union, IA, on October 14, at 11:00 A.M. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at Elliott Chapel in New London, Iowa.
