Charles Lee "Charlie" Hesseltine , 84, of Burlington, died at 5:03 PM Monday, March 18, 2019.

Born February 18, 1935, he was the son of Joseph Charles Richie and the adopted son of Robert Lee and Myrtle Elizabeth Savell Hesseltine. In 1956, he married Virginia Crawford Letts. He later married Rose Marie Beliel in 1968 and Frances MaDonna Warth in 1999.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator, a roofer and farmer.

He enjoyed fishing, making homemade wine, mushroom hunting, camping and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of ABATE District 14 & 18.

Survivors include sons: Donald Lee Hesseltine of Keota, IA, Dogulas E. Hesseltine, Daniel Lee Helmick, Joseph Charles Hesseltine, and Dustin James Hesseltine all of Burlington; daughters, Gail Morris of Humboet, IA, and Rebecca K. Loving of Wayland, IA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by both sets of parents, three wives, grandparents, one sister Jean Hesseltine of Washington, IA, and several aunts and uncles.

At a later date, the family will hold a celebration of life.

Memorials have been established for the Great River Hospice House and ABATE.
