Charles J. 'Charlie' Lucas

      Charles J. "Charlie" Lucas, 82, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the First Christian Church in Washington with the Rev. Fred Bickhart officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by the Washington American Legion Post No. 29 will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday in the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or the Washington Public Library.

      Mr. Lucas was born Feb. 27, 1926, in Eddyville, the son of Joe and Ruth (Miller) Lucas. He married Shirley Ann Becherer on Oct. 21, 1950, in Lenox.
