Charles Owen 'Pappy' McKinney

      COLUMBUS JUNCTION-Charles Owen "Pappy" McKinney, 80, of Ainsworth, formerly of Letts, died Saturday, May 26, 2007, at his home.

      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, with the Rev. Rebecca Carver of Iowa City Hospice officiating. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Letts Cemetery. The family will have a time of food and fellowship at the Letts Community Center following the burial service. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice.

      Mr. McKinney was born on Nov. 19, 1926, in Floyd, Ark., the son of T. Charley and Lonie M. (Strayhorn) McKinney. He married Nevada I. Farmer in Searcy, Ark., on Sept. 15, 1948.

      Mr. McKinney was a resident of Letts since 1963 and was employed at HON Industries for 20 years, and GPC for 11 years. He enjoyed bluegrass music, camping and traveling.
