Charles P. Bruty

      Charles P. Bruty, 73, of Washington, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, in he University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after being seriously ill for the past two weeks.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, in the St. James Catholic Church in Washington with the Rev. Paul Appel officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by the Washington American Legion Post No. 29 will be held in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday in the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A general memorial fund has been established.

      Mr. Bruty was born April 5, 1935 in Washington, the son of Francis Patrick and Katheryn Louise (Eagle) Bruty. He married Christy Glider. He later married Jean Dickerson Black.
