Charles Peiffer
KALONA ? Charles Leonard ?Chuck? Peiffer, 84, of Kalona, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, at the First Christian Church in Washington with the Rev. Colton Clay officiating. The body will be cremated following the service. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the First Christian Church and Hospice of Washington County.
Mr. Peiffer was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Keota, the son of Frank and Leona (Dumont) Peiffer. He married Shirley Cupp. The couple later divorced. He married Anna M. Miller on Jan. 8, 1983, in Kalona.
He graduated from Keota High School. He farmed in the Keota area, was a crop and hail insurance adjuster, and operated a seed-cleaning business. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington, and enjoyed puzzles, country drives and Yotty?s ice cream.
Surviving are his wife Anna of Kalona; seven children, Dan Peiffer (Bunny) of Washington, Tony Peiffer and Paul Davis of Maui, Hawaii, Fred Peiffer and wife Kay of Kalona, Randy Peiffer and wife Carla of Washington, Kevin Peiffer of Washington, Pat Peiffer of Washington, and Judy Wooldrik and husband Rob of Denver, Colorado; three stepchildren, Karen Schrock and husband Dean of Kalona, Julie Sojka and husband Joe of Kalona, and Terry Miller of Washington; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Gregan of Columbus Junction, Suzanne Judge and husband Bob of Des Moines, and Mary Ann Dunn and husband Frank of Dubuque; and two sisters-in-law, Rita Hammes of Fairfield, and Virginia Peiffer of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Shirley; one grandson; two brothers, Gerald, and Lloyd Peiffer; two sisters, Lillian (Mrs. Jim) Vittetoe, and Lucille Cady and husband Snowy; and one brother-in-law, Frank Gregan.
