Charles V. Brown April 5, 1954 - August 20, 2005

      Charles "Charlie" V. Brown, 51, of New London, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

      The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Randall Gearhart officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at the chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service on Wednesday. A memorial has been established.

      Survivors include two sons, Zachary and his wife Sara Ruble Brown of New London, and Michael Carpenter of Fort Madison; a step-daughter, Tamara Lewis-Thompson of Boulder, Colo.; three grandchildren; his father; a brother, Jim and his wife Vera Brown of Dallas City, Ill., and two sisters, Teresa Wagner of Ironwood, Mich., and Lora and her husband Curtis Mattox of Billings, Mont.

      He was preceded in death by his mother.
