Charles Wagner Beckman

      KALONA-Charles Wagner Beckman, 84, of Kalona, died Friday, June 10, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a brief illness.

      Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, at Kalona United Methodist Church in Kalona with the Rev. Lynn Patrick officiating. The body has been cremated and a private burial will be held at a later date. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Visitation will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with family present from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Kalona United Methodist Church, Kalona Library Foundation or Kalona Historical Society.

      Dr. Beckman was born on June 24, 1920, in Hull, to Charles A. and Lila (Wagner) Beckman. He married Martha M. Chappell on Sept. 9, 1944, in Iowa City.
