Charlotte A. Stewart

Charlotte Alena Stewart, 65, of New London, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Henry County Health Center.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will be present from 12 to 1 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m at Elliott Chapel, with pastor Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Burge Cemetery in New London.

A memorial has been established to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Fund.

Charlotte was born Aug. 17, 1942 in Indianola, the daughter of Frank and Helen Butterfield Blake. On Sept. 28, 1985, she married James A. Stewart in New London. She had previously been married to Roger Hinshaw, but they divorced.

A graduate of Indianola High School and the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, she worked for Pittsburg/Des Moines Steel in Des Moines and the Iowa Department of Corrections, and enjoyed gardening and shopping.

She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Robin Hinshaw and her partner Shari Kordick of Des Moines; two stepsons, Timothy Stewart and his wife Kim of Austin, Texas and Michael Stewart and his wife Christy of San Marcus, Texas; two stepdaughters, Cara McGowin and her husband Tony of Jefferson City, Texas and Paula Ortunio and her husband Jimmy of Wimbly, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.

Her parents preceded her in death.
