Charlotte V. Mayer

January 27, 1924 - November 29, 2017

Charlotte V. Mayer, age 93, of Sunland Village East, Mesa, Ariz., died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 surrounded by her family following a short struggle with cancer.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00-5:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in the Mesa Verde Room at Sunland Village East. Because of Charlotte's love for children a memorial has have been set up with the Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Charlotte was born January 27, 1924 in Bloomington, Ind. the daughter of Elmer and Fern Hays. She attended school at Columbus Junction in Iowa. On December 3, 1943 Charlotte was united in marriage to Victor Mayer in Washington, Iowa. They lived 45 years on their farm in Washington County and moved to Arizona in 1998.

Charlotte enjoyed playing cards, crafts, baking to share with friends and family, and participating in the activities at Sunland Village.

Charlotte is survived by two sons: Robert Mayer of Mesa, Ariz. and Tom Mayer and his wife Karyl Mayer of Gilbert, Ariz. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Kathryn Mayer (Tom Eyford) of Ridgefield, Wash. and Kristopher Mayer (Kay Nichols) of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchild, Carson Mayer; and sister, Ellen Perdock of Washington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Mayer in 2004; mother, Fern Hays in 2007; and her sister, Edith Canott in 2008.
