Charlotte Winborn

KALONA ? Charlotte Winborn, 97, of Kalona, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, in Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 29, at the East Union Mennonite Church in rural Kalona with the Rev. Joel Beachy officiating. Burial will be in the East Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund for the East Union Cemetery has been established. Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mrs. Winborn was born June 26, 1919, near Iowa City, the daughter of Cephus and Nancy (Wertz) Miller. She married Milton Jay Winborn on July 20, 1939.

She graduated from Sharon Center High School. She lived with her husband on their family farm until his death in 1992. She was a member of East Union Mennonite Church, and a former member of the Kalona Lioness Club, and the Red Hat Club. She enjoyed reading, music, working outdoors, and yodeling.

Surviving are five children, Margaret Rose Hjelmstad of Manchester, Pennsylvania, Jon Allen Winborn and wife Mary Jo of Mount Wolf, Pennsylvania, Mae Areneaux of Marshalltown, Robert Moberly and wife Dorothea of Wellman, and Ralph Moberly of Beaverton, Oregon; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Henrietta Miller of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; and two brothers, Sam Miller, and Wilbur Miller.
