Cheryl Kern

BURLINGTON ? Cheryl Ann Kern, 67, of Stronghurst, Illinois, formerly of Washington, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, in Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst.

Her body has been cremated. There will be no visitation or services. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery at a later date. Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington is in charge of the arrangements.

Cheryl was born Sept. 1, 1948, in Washington, the daughter of Lester and Lovetta (Patterson) Kern. She married Barry VanEngelenhoven. The couple later divorced. She married Donald Manning Sr. in 1973. They later divorced.

She attended Washington High School. She worked at her brother?s restaurant, The Washington Café, as a cook for years. She was of the Catholic faith. She was an Elvis Presley fan, loved to crochet, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Lesley Cratton of Burlington, and Connie Brockett of Lomax, Illinois; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers.
