Cheryl Lee Johnson, 63, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, April 26, 2021, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.
A graveside memorial service for Cheryl will be
held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
The Reverend David Bracht-Wagner, Senior Pastor, First United Methodist Church,
will officiate. Burial will be
in Forest Home Cemetery.

Cheryl, the former Cheryl Lee Holmes, was born August 10, 1957, in Fairfield. She was the daughter of Donald and Barbara (Pratt) Holmes. She was raised in the Stockport, IA, area and graduated from Van Buren County High School in 1975. She furthered her education with classes at Southeastern Community College and Iowa Wesleyan University, as well as some on-line classes.
On February 11, 1988, in Mt. Pleasant, Cheryl was united in marriage to Donald Lee Johnson. The couple later divorced.
Cheryl was a longtime income tax preparation specialist with the Jackson Hewitt Company, primarily working at their kiosks in the Wal-Mart stores of Mt. Pleasant and Washington. Prior to that, Cheryl worked at the Jet-Stop at the Salem Stub.
Cheryl was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. She loved to bake and was exceptional with her wedding cake. She also had a keen interest in floral decoration and was a "wizard" in creating beautiful floral arrangements.
Those thankful for sharing in Cheryl's life include her son and his wife, Michael and Linda Watson of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Robert Holmes of Winchester, IA; 2 sisters and their husbands, Debra and Dan Glass of North Liberty, IA and Cathy and David Wyatt of Ruthven, IA; 7 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Her parents, former husband and a brother-in-law, Allen Miller, precede Cheryl in death.
