Christine Rae Carlson Lucas Stone, age 70, of Collierville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.

Born on July 12, 1954 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Christine was the youngest daughter of Everett and Treva (Williamson) Carlson. She was a Class of 1972 graduate of Winfield-Mt. Union High School in Winfield, Iowa.

Christine was united in marriage to Roger Lucas on November 4, 1972. After their divorce in 1989, Christine and her two children relocated from Crawfordsville, Iowa to Collierville, Tennessee. She spent the next several years with her long-time love, Jeremy Stone, and they eventually married on November 11, 2011.

Throughout her adult life, Christine worked clerical and administrative jobs. She also spent many years helping work and show hackney ponies across the country and countless hours in the early morning braiding the weanlings and cobtails by hand at the horse shows. In the mid-1980’s, she became the co-owner of The Hackney Journal and as editor/publisher grew the magazine from a small black & white monthly periodical to a premier publication with full-color advertisements and horse show news articles. She later worked at various businesses around the Collierville area and eventually retired from FedEx after several years as an Administrative Assistant.

She was an avid crafter and card maker. She had quite a green thumb and enjoyed flower gardening. She took feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels very seriously. Pets of all types and sizes were always present and well cared for in her home. She was a woman of Christian faith. Her family was the center of her world and friendships, near and long-distance, were cherished.

Christine is survived by her husband, Jeremy Stone; daughter, Kelly Lucas; favorite son, Nick and his wife Christy Lucas; beloved granddaughters: Anna Marie Lucas and Emma Jane Lucas; sisters: Joyce (Jim) Alexander and June (Mike) Evans; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Per Christine’s wishes, she will be cremated, and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you are encouraged to adopt a pet or make a donation in her memory to your local animal shelter/rescue group.
