Christy L. Fort, 74, of Washington, died Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Windsor Manor Senior Living Campus. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 1, at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A general memorial fund has been established.

Christy Lee (Glider) Fort was born Dec. 24, 1946, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Vera (Sowash) Glider. She attended Washington High School. In 1964, she was united in marriage to Charles Bruty. The couple later divorced. On Dec. 27, 1984, she married James L. Fort in Washington. Christy worked as a cashier at Goodwill and later in housekeeping at the Washington County Hospital. She was a member of the Washington VFW and enjoyed gardening, coloring, watching the Cubs and spending time with her grandson.

Survivors include her sons, Mark and Joel Bruty of Washington; one grandson, Caleb Bruty; and one brother, Gene Glider of Denver, Colo.

Preceding Christy in death were her parents; her husband, James Fort, in 2011; and sister-in-law, Shirley Glider.
