Christy Lea “Chris” Peiffer, age 70, of West Chester, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a brief battle with cancer.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Father Paul Appel officiating. General Calling hours will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. James Catholic Church where the family will be present to receive friends from 2:30 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday. The Rosary will be led by the Catholic Daughters at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for St. James Catholic Church or the Catholic Daughters. Online condolences may be sent for Chris’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
Chris was born March 8, 1954, in North English, Iowa, the daughter of Richard Eugene and Doris Lea (Prandy) Davidson. She attended school in Washington, graduating from Washington High School in 1972. Chris was united in marriage to Rich Peiffer on January 11, 1974, at the St. James Catholic Church in Washington.
Chris lived most of her life in the West Chester community. She worked at several local businesses before becoming a Financial Advisor in 2006. She worked for Cambridge Investments in the offices of Kent Dallmeyer and Pete Buffer until her retirement in 2016. Chris was an active member of St. James Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed attending the Tuesday night Faith Formation Class and served on many committees at the church over the years. She enjoyed being outside working in her flower beds or mowing the yard. Chris enjoyed traveling and the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Rich Peiffer of West Chester, Iowa; daughter, Staci (Rob) Mancusi of Martin, Tennessee; son, Phil (Bobbie) Peiffer of Kalona, Iowa; grandchildren: Matthew, Daniel, Bella and Sophie Mancusi; and Bailee, Paige, Josh Wallington, Libby and Karter Peiffer; mother, Doris Davidson of Killen, Alabama; sister, Bobbie (Mike) Shirkey of Killen, Alabama; sister, Sally Japsen of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; three nieces April (Aaron) Six, Alissa (Rob) Schuerer, Anna (Dustin) McKenna; as well as nine great-nieces and -nephews and the many Peiffer in-laws that she considered family.
Chris was preceded in death by her father, Dick Davidson; brother, John Rollin Davidson; and her grandparents.
