Clara Elizabeth Diers
Clara Elizabeth Diers, 87, of the Long Term Care Unit at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at the Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with the family present. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery of Fairfield. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to First Lutheran Church of Fairfield.
Mrs. Diers was born Oct. 20, 1913, in Germanville, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Miller Bekel. She married Willard ?Bub? Diers on Oct. 21, 1938, in Germanville, who preceded her in death on May 23, 1990. She lived most of her life in Jefferson County, graduating in 1931 from Fairfield High School. She was a homemaker, teacher, and cook for the Fairfield Community Schools, a member of the First Lutheran Church, of the First Lutheran Quilters, and Dorcas Women?s Group at First Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne and Loretta Diers of Fairfield and Alan and Carol Diers of Itasca, Ill.; two daughters, Virginia Diers of Seattle, Wash., and Florence and Bill Wright of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Merle Bekel.
